Set No. A9 Freight and Passenger Double Train Set
A most unusual discovery. The set dates to late 1969, maybe even as late as early 1970, and comprises a modern style freight set combined with an old-time style passenger set. The contents are known to be correct as originally purchased and the set is complete except for the card spacers/packing pieces. The track included with the set is made by Atlas and forms a large 18-piece oval (12 curves + 4 straights + railer / crossing straight + power connecting straight).
Of note is the set reference number 'A9 10010'. Why the number '10010' has been included is a mystery although it just so happens that it is the New York postcode for the company's registered office at 200 Fifth Avenue, New York, N.Y.10010.

Freight Train Presentation Sets (no track included)
Two versions of the
ATT Set No. 375 Li'l Miner Ore Train Presentation Set The Presentation Sets
would also have been available including Ore Cars with the following road names: Duluth Missabe & Iron Range, Bessemer & Lake Erie and, possibly, Chicago & Northwestern. The boxed Li'l Miner Locomotive + Ore Cars were shrink wrapped onto the cardboard base tray / header card to secure them. |
Sample Freight Train Presentation Set (no track included)
I have seen several of these Sample Freight Train Sets and they have all been annotated in the same manner. However, on each occasion, the contents have always included an ALCO 415 Diesel locomotive (different railroad names) plus eleven various freight cars and two internal packing pieces.
