Canadian Tri-ang Railways - The 1958 Sets

1958 RSX “Military Special” Set
The issued set was composed of the R.159 Blue and Yellow Double-ended Diesel Locomotive, Bogie Well Wagon with Conqueror Tank Load, Bogie Well Wagon with Jet Fighter Load, R.216 Rocket Launching Wagon, R.115 Caboose, RT.42 Speed Control Unit and oval of Standard Track (4x R.96 Straight, R.97 Power Connecting and Uncoupling Track, R.107 Television Interference Suppressor Track and 12x R.106 Large Radius Curve).
The set box has an original Simpsons-Sears sticker showing the Canadian retail price of $26.98. The box dimensions are 24 x 14 x 3 inches.
This is one of the rarest and most sought-after of all the Tri-ang Railways train sets. At the present time, only three surviving examples of this set have been recorded.
The stock had Type 2 (open) couplings and all of the wagons were supplied without buffers which was, at the time, a unique feature of this set.
